When A Man You Love Was Abused by Cec Murphey

When a Man You Love Was Abused: A Woman's Guide to Helping Him Overcome Childhood Sexual Molestation When a Man You Love Was Abused: A Woman's Guide to Helping Him Overcome Childhood Sexual Molestation by Cecil Murphey

Just to let everyone know, I'm still reading this book but felt it was so important that I wanted to get some information out there to bring awareness for the courage it takes to acknowledge abuse no matter who you are. Please take note. If you don't need it, someone you know will.

Angie's Take:
Cec's vulnerability will help women begin to understand why the men they love act in numbness, hiding their emotions under a wall so thick they no longer are aware of their existence. What seems like neglectful uncaring is actually the inability to even find emotions long ago buried. Though there are very practical and helpful suggestions for women, loving a man who has been abused takes the help of Christ and Cec does not fail to acknowledge that important piece of the puzzle. Great opportunity to strengthen marriages and save many from destruction.

A Tailor-Made Bride by Karen Witemeyer

A Tailor-Made Bride

Bethany House (June 1, 2010)

by

Karen Witemeyer

Angie's Take: The opening scene sets a wonderful exposure of the main character's personality. I absolutely loved the grand benefactress. I've met people like her and always enjoyed the little surprises their unusual manner brings to the situation. Karen's writing is fun and fresh. The description of the game of graces was fun! It makes me want to go play. And I have to admit having a connection with disliking the color orange, lol. (You'll have to read A Tailor-Made Bride to understand from Hannah's point of view.) Enjoyable story, entertaining jaunt into history, and very well done characters. Just loved the book cover, by the way, it totally personifies the main characters. Great job, Karen Witemeyer, send us some more like this one.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Karen Witemeyer is a deacon's wife and mother of three who believes the world needs more happily-ever-afters. To that end, she combines her love of bygone eras with her passion for helping women mature in Christ to craft historical romance novels that lift the spirit and nurture the soul.

After growing up in California, Karen moved to Texas to attend Abilene Christian University where she earned bachelor and master's degrees in Psychology. It was also there that she met and married her own Texas hero. He roped her in good, for she has lived in Texas ever since. In fact, she fell so in love with this rugged land of sweeping sunsets and enduring pioneer spirit, that she incorporates it into the pages of her novels, setting her stories in the small towns of a state that burgeoned into greatness in the mid-to-late 1800s.

In January, 2009, Karen signed a contract with Bethany House Publishers for three inspirational historical romance novels, and she is thrilled to announce that her first book, A TAILOR-MADE BRIDE has released this month. ABOUT THE BOOK

When a dressmaker who values beauty tangles with a liveryman who condemns vanity, the sparks begin to fly!

Jericho "J.T." Tucker wants nothing to do with the new dressmaker in Coventry, Texas. He's all too familiar with her kind--shallow women more devoted to fashion than true beauty. Yet, except for her well-tailored clothes, this seamstress is not at all what he expected.

Hannah Richards is confounded by the man who runs the livery. The unsmiling fellow riles her with his arrogant assumptions and gruff manner, while at the same time stirring her heart with unexpected acts of kindness. Which side of Jericho Tucker reflects the real man?

When Hannah decides to help Jericho's sister catch a beau--leading to consequences neither could have foreseen--will Jericho and Hannah find a way to bridge the gap between them

About the Instructor (A Note from Janice)

Meet Author Janice Hanna Thompson
Author Janice
Hanna Thompson
As many of you know, I've been at this "writing thing" awhile and have published in nearly every genre. To check out my publishing credits, go here. Beyond what you see on my published works page, I've also ghost-written seven books for children and have contributed to over a dozen compilation projects. In some ways, I feel the Lord has allowed me to take this genre-jumping ride (and what a ride it's been!) so that I can help writers in a variety of areas/genres.

I can honestly say this is the most comprehensive course I've ever offered to writers. I truly believe a newbie could take this fiction-writing course and learn enough to craft a well-written, sellable novel.

I can't wait to see writers (newbies and established, alike) think of this "novel" approach to fiction-writing! (Sorry! I couldn't resist!)

Montana Mondays: What's the Speed Limit Anyway?

Downtown Missoula at twilight

It depends on the year. Seriously, we've gone back and forth for decades having no highway speed to having 75 miles an hour. The most recent back and forth removed the speed limit to replace it with 75 mph on highways unless going through certain towns. Then it's 65mph. You really need to watch for the signs and pay attention. (You might want to pay attention for deer, skunk, coyote, antelope, elk...)

Then again, some of our highways go through the tiniest of towns. I'm not kidding when I say the highway speed limit is 25mph. If you get caught going over that for the one block or less in the posted area, you will pay a hefty sum to keep the town in finances ;-)

 Belfry, MT

I drove through the town of Belfry, MT. The speed limit was 35 at the edge and 25 through the main stretch. The main stretch wove down little tiny roads the size of alleys past several antique churches and the high school, home of the Bats!

 Yellowstone River

It's just across the border from Cody, Wyoming area heading in the direction of Billings, MT. The country is gorgeous there. The Yellowstone River flows through and dares you to stop and stare. The landscape is dramatically different within a few miles. Anything from forest to desert to farmlands.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game-The Missoula Osprey

Another great place to visit on our virtual tour of Montana. The Missoula Osprey Base Ball Team.

Our semi-pro baseball team is a wonderful, fun attraction for locals and tourists:-D This is our mascot (he's an osprey.)

Some of the folks at our church decided it would be fun to do a barbecue and baseball game. They were right!

This is Don having a great time with Steve and Steve!

Then we all danced to YMCA, lol, led by the Osprey mascot.

Oh yes, we do have fun in Missoula:-D

Three of our younger members were invited to lead the singing of the traditional, Take Me Out To The Ball Game!

What is there to do in this town? Visit the Osprey and see a real osprey nest (lived in too.) This pole was installed to lure the river hawk to the stadium. The osprey is a bird that lives near rivers, fishes, and builds nests all over the area on tall poles like the one in the distance here. We watched them fly around the park throughout the game as if they were rooting for the home team.

Hey, thanks for visiting today. Come back soon:-D
